Explore the Beautiful City of Bariloche
Also known as the Jewel of Patagonia, Bariloche features amazing evergreen forests, snowcapped peaks and mountain lakes. Situated deep in the Lake Region of Patagonia, this wonderful city has an abundance of entertainment and sporting activities. The town has its own unique charm and is a very popular place to spend holidays. During the holiday season, you will find a profusion of both local and international tourists.
The small town is situated in front of Lake Nahuel Huapi which makes for an incredibly picturesque setting. The buildings have wooden facades and bare a certain resemblance to traditional Swiss architecture. The mountains in the background and the large cathedral and clock tower in the town center further add to this illusion. But that is where the old-town feel of Bariloche ends. For most visitors the day is spent enjoying any number of mind-blowing outdoor activities in the surrounding natural paradise. The nights are spent dining, dancing or enjoying the sounds of music. There are many bars, restaurants and nightclubs and most of them are within walking distance of the many lodges and hotels.
So what daytime activities are there to be enjoyed in the surrounding areas? Well, if you are the quiet, relaxed type you might try the Grand Circuit Excursion which will take you around the Nahuel Huapi National Park, allow you to visit El Valle Encantado and let you spend some time in Villa La Angostura and Villa Traful. Along the way you will be privy to some spectacular lake and mountain views. The Grand Circuit Excursion is the most extensive excursion in the region but is by no means the only one. The Isla Victoria and Bosque de Arrayanes, Circuito Siete Lagos, Peuma Hue Estancia and the Lake Crossing to Puerto Montt in Chile all have breathtaking vistas and allow you to get closer to the mountains, lakes and forests of the region.
For the more adventurous, your itinerary will depend largely on what season you have chosen to visit in. During the summer, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking and day walks are all very popular. In the winter monts, skiing and snowboarding on the Cerro Catedral Bariloche mountain are a must. The two main hotels in the area also offer their own particular activities, such as horseback riding on the Isla Victoria which can be enjoyed at the Isla Victoria Hotel or playing golf in the warmer months at the Llao Llao Hotel. Both are set in the most beautiful surroundings imaginable and you can be certain that the awe-inspiring vistas will provide the most outstanding memories of your stay here.
