Los Angeles’ Prestigious AFI Fest
The AFI (American Film Institute) Fest is an annual event that is takes place in Los Angeles, and this year the festival began on 1 November and will come to an end on 11 November 2007. It is a film festival of significant proportions and is attended by the leading international filmmakers from all the corners of the globe. For one week in November, Los Angeles comes alive with celebrities and a world-class collection of films that can be viewed throughout the festival.
The first AFI Fest was held in 1987 and has since grown into a calendar event for directors, producers, actors and everyone involved in the film making industry. This year, audiences can look forward to a gripping line-up films such as ‘American Fork’, a 94 minute American film. Norway has entered ‘The Art of Negative Thinking’ into the Feature competition, with the Mexican ‘Atenco, A Crime of State’ being a seventy minute documentary. World Cinema Showcase films include the ‘Blind Mountain’ from China, ‘The Band’s Visit’ from Israel and ‘Nosaltres’ from Senegal. Audiences should also be on the look out for films such as ‘Honeydripper’, ‘Happy Desert’, ‘Terrorizer’ and many more magical screenings.
