The European Fine Art Fair in Maastricht
Every year for the past thirty years Maastricht has hosted the European Fine Art Fair – one of the more varied and exciting international art and antique fairs around. Maastricht is one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands and can be located near the Belgium and German borders. The Fine Art Fair focuses on bringing handpicked museum quality items as well as well-established art and antique dealers and art galleries from an array of countries all under one roof.
Over 70,000 collectors come here annually to see these beautiful and unique items on sale in the hope to take some of them back home with them. These items include everything from primitive to contemporary pieces of artwork and there is something for everyone. You can also enjoy the musical shows, exhibitions and lectures provided for all those attending the fair. Maison van den Boer and Gourmet Invents provide all the catering for in-house events while an array of à la Carte or self-service restaurants; cafes and bars take care of all other needs.
The European Fair is well known for the quality of items that it attracts especially in the field of paintings painted by French, Spanish and Italian Old Masters. Other examples of their collection are of Dutch and Flemish paintings that are unsurpassed in their origin and quality. The majority of the European Fine Art Fair is made up of The Antiques and Works of Art where you will see things like rare antique rugs, clocks, furniture and manuscripts. Other collector items often include fine European and American Jewelry, paintings and watercolors from the 18th and 19th centuries, bronze sculptors, continental furniture, and fine English porcelain.
The European Fine Art Fair lasts for a period of a week in the month of March. Before it can take place however, a panel of experts to ensure that the quality, condition and authenticity is of the correct standard must first view all works that will be put on display. For 2007 the venue for this prestigious event will be at the Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Center and as per normal will be organized by the European Fine Art Foundation.
