Transport in Canada

Canada is a well-developed country with a great economy and the majority of the country enjoys the latest and greatest gadgets and technology. This means that you can expect great service and a variety of comfortable transport in Canada.
Most visitors to the country will arrive and leave by airplane. Air transportation is well developed in Canada and there are a great manyairports in the country. Only a small number of them are international, but the vast majority are open to any civilian who wishes to make use of them. This makes flying a great way of getting around the country. It is also one of the best ways to travel to some of the more northern reaches of the country where travel by car, rail or boat is more difficult.
Road networks are fairly extensive and you can book bus tickets to most of the cities and towns in Canada. Road travel is cheaper than air transport but it also takes quite a bit longer. You may also choose to rent a car but beware; this option can be quite pricey. Rail transport is available, but is often somewhat expensive and inconvenient. It is, however, quite a comfortable way to travel.
Often backpackers choose to travel by hitchhiking. If this is your intention, then take note: Hitchhiking is illegal in certain parts of the country and if you are caught doing so you could end up in serious trouble with the law! It is usually better for visitors to find an alternate means of transport in Canada.
