Explore the natural beauty of Odense
If you are traveling to Denmark, then you'd better make sure that a visit to Odense is included in your itinerary. Situated in the heart of the country, Odense is the third-largest city in Denmark. It also serves as the capital of the Island of Funen. Yet, perhaps Odense is perhaps best known for being the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen - the father and creator of many of the beautiful fables and stories that are read and told to children in all parts of the world.
On arriving at Odense, the first thing that will likely strike you is how people-friendly the city is. With a large amount of pedestrian-only streets, squares and alleys you may feel like you've entered a world where cars no longer exist and the air is all the better for it. For those who have a bit further to journey, there is a wealth of cycle paths so a bit of light exercise will soon have you at your destination. And with the lack of stress related to rush-hour traffic and noise pollution, Odense is all the more friendlier for it.
While in Odense, you might enjoy visiting a few of the many museums. One of the most popular is, of course, the Hans Christian Andersen museum. For those with an eye for art, the Brandts Klaedefabrik houses several museums which are dedicated not only to the history of printing and photography but which also house several constantly changing exhibitions of modern art. After a morning spent at these attractions, a meal in one of the many restaurants or cafés is a must. You might also enjoy some shopping in between attractions. Odense is over a thousand years old so it is home to many fine attractions. You might enjoy a trip back in time at the Funen Village or perhaps a look at the Egeskov Castle, amongst other things. There are also a large number of open areas which are ideal for picnics and relaxation. Odense is definitely worth a visit so start booking your accommodation as soon as possible - you wouldn't want to miss out!
