Hello,
I visited Brussels a few years back and had a great time. While there I tried a waffle from one of those little street cart vendors and fell in love with them. I had at least a couple every day until I left. Now it's been a while and I am really craving one. I have been trying to find the name of the company that sells them, but haven't had much luck. I realize there are a lot of Waffles being sold in Brussels, but these were from a specific vendor and the little carts were the predominant sellers on the street and they were all over the place. If anybody has a name and possible an address, phone, or web-site I would be extremely grateful. My hope is to figure out a way to have some shipped home. What can I say, I have quite a sweet tooth. Thank you and have a great day.

whither the waffle?

Three YEARS without a waffle post?

What's going on here, people? Let's show some Belgian pride and share our favourite waffles!

I like a waffle with tuna! Sprinkle some powdered sugar & capers on it and you have a breakfast snack that can't be beat! Deeeeeeeee-lish!

.......are you serious?

I am being sincere. I cannot fathom such a breakfast, a lunch, a supper or a dinner.

serious... moi?

oh good heavens no!

I was just having a little light-hearted fun with the waffle thread, since it had been languishing for so long...

here's one I like...

CINNAMON WAFFLES WITH HONEY BUTTER

2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
4 eggs, separated
1 3/4 c. milk
4 tbsp. melted butter, butter or vegetable oil

Heat waffle iron. Sift flour, sugar, salt and cinnamon into large bowl. Beat egg whites until stiff; set aside. Add milk, butter and egg yolks to flour mixture and beat thoroughly. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and let stand for a few minutes.

Pour batter from cup or pitcher onto center of hot waffle iron. Bake until steaming stops, about 5 minutes. Remove waffle carefully. Serve with honey butter. Makes 3 servings.

Belgian sweets in USA

Hi Mark:
I am working for a Belgium company (Lotus Bakeries)in USA. I was running a search on the web on Belgium food and found this web site. We have a catalog called "Gourmet Center" where we sell Belgium cookies, pastries, waffles, chocolates and some other French products. Wanted to let you know that we sell authentic Belgian Waffles (traditional style or belgian chocolate covered) both on our web site and through our catalog. Unfortunately they are not offered in retail stores in USA. If you are interested here is the phone number where you can request a catalog/buy or visit the web site at http://www.biscoff.com
hope this helps,
Idil
