Cool Grrovy places to work and live in Brussels

Howdy,

Finding a place to live can be a rather hard task here in Brussels, unless your very lucky or willing to pay the big bucks for an apartment. If your sharing with a partner or friend, you might have better luck.
Most of the English speaking young community live in and around Ixelles and Etterbeek. It's also here, along with Brussels city centre that you'll find most of the good and groovy restaurants and bars.
Also try you're luck in some of the Irish bars around town, cause there you'll serve people who speak English, also knowing a little French will help you along the way. For the more Belgian places, you'll definitely need to know French and Flemish to be employed.
You can find most Irish bars, in Shuman, Ave Louise and the city centre.

As for cool places to live, try your luck with the city centre (expensive), Ixelles (expensive), Etterbeek (expensive), certain areas of Schaerbeek (better prices) and St Gilles (better prices). Try and stay away from places like Molenbeek and Anderlecht as there are predominantly Morrocan orientated and not so nice for a girl to walk around in.

Any more questions you can always ask and send an email to
kverbeeck@hotmail.com

Cheers!
