Why are so many people afraid of the Muslims in Belgium?

What have they done to improve the country or not? This would be something to discuss, then we could determine if these people are nice or not.

What is the school participation of these people. Are they wearing head scarves to protect the society or trouble the society? this is always a topic of mixed emotions>

Many Muslims that emigrate to Western countries stay always Muslims in the first place.
Some refuse to take the nationality of their new country, but yet they want to participate in politics.
They create ghettos where Belgian natives are not welcome.
Some of their schools are financed by terrorist organization and in exchange, these schools teach hatred against the West and other religions.
They put the Islamic law above all other. If a local law is in conflict with their religion, they don't respect it.

The same is happening in your country but as there are not as many Muslims, you are not aware of it.
How would you feel if 10 % of the town or city were you live would become forbidden for you, where they speak another language? In some cities in USA you have a problem with black ghettos, but even the black Americans consider themselves Americans. Muslims don't.

Immigration of Muslims is encouraged by left oriented political parties, also by French parties. The first because no Muslim will vote for the right Christian Democrats, the second because these immigrants are merely from former French colonies.

What their economic value and contribution is, I don't know, but they are well informed about social laws, better than Belgians and know every trick to take advantage of the system.
They work cheaper than Belgians and do work others don't want to do, but send money back to their country, so I don't think they are contributing much to our economy.

If you have children and live in a community with high Muslim population, you have a choice: send your children to a public school and to be amongst a majority of North African Muslims, or to send them to a distant school or to an expensive private school.

Thanks for your comments. It must be awful to feel like a stranger in your own town. Unfortunately the world is constantly changing and we humans must constantly readjust.

I do know sometimes it may seem uncomfortable to go into sections of the city, but maybe if you got to know some of the people maybe those areas of the city that was once familiar could become familiar again, but in a different way. Just a thought.

I moved out of Brussels 25 year ago, so it does not concern me directly anymore, but I have still family and friends there. As far as I know, no one has any contact with Muslim immigrants.
I am married to an immigrant, a Russian, and no one has a problem with that. But my wife studies hard to learn the language, habits and culture. She wants to integrate.
If you would marry a Muslim you have to convert to her religion and take her habits and culture. And they call us narrow minded, intolerant and racist.
A mixt, Muslim - non Muslim, relationship is a very serious offense, in some Muslim coutries punished by death.

Did you know that a divorced Muslim woman has to stay faithful to her ex-husband, any relationship is considered as unfaithfulness and punisable with death by lapidation?

They have done absolutelely nothing to improve this country.
When we brought them here (coal industry) it was for their good, not for our good. They always try and make us believe we needed them but it was and still is the other way around.

According to a survey 75% of the crimes comitted in Antwerp are comitted by North African youths, this survey was not made public because our politicians where affraid it would make our country look even more rascist.

They attack our elders in the street and rob them of what litle they have mostly causing injury wich these people can not afford to pay for, but in their own religion an elderly person is holy. Our youngsters can not go to any party they in fear of being ripped.

They openly commit minor crimes because they know the jails are full and they will be let out the same day. This means they disrespect our laws.

There are moroccon who have been living here since the coal rush wich can not speak or understand our language. Are they willing to adapt? I don't think so.
They always complain about the fact that they can't find work. Let me tell you this, if you are not able to read and write why should you get a job? If they were starving ok but a person living by himself without work is entitled to a minimum of 600€ a month. There is no better place then Belgium, as Rikbe stated before, they know our social security better then us and they are taking advantage of it, this results in more taxes for us and less funds for those who do need it (disabled and elders).

Here in Antwerp I can honestly say that once it gets dark 35% of the city is a no-go zone for whites. During the daytime 10-15%.

I could go on and on but the most striking thing to me is the fact that from the next election on the moroccon society wants the moroccon language to be made the fourth national language of Belgium (Dutch, french, German are the first three). Imagine our children learning moroccon in school, what next? The Quoran...**** them.

I think we should start a christian terrorist group to counter all those turban-wearing cameljockeys.

Should we make Moroccon the fourth official language?

I've just read ur messages on this thread. It sounds really interesting. I've lived in Belgium for three months and I considered it to be quite safe place... until me and my friend were attacked by some morrocan guy at nighttime.

That's when I became more interested in these issues. I'm not Belgian, so I don't know that much about history of this country... But I quite understand ur problem with Muslims or people from Morocco as we have similar problem with Gypsies.

I'm from South America...and we have had similar problems, just like Asia, Africa, North-America, and virtually every other part of the world.

You see, some European immigrants colonized and exploited most of the world...They didn't come over to assimilate our cultures...they just raped, pillaged, and murdered millions. And as if that wasn't enough, now they want to complain about the state of affairs...

As a muslim who has read the comments above, I see that ignorance exist in all societies regardless of race or beliefs. the statements are filled with ignorance, bias, generalizations and hatred..And for the most part those making such generalizations are MISINFORMED.

the statements or arguments are so off base, so ludicrous, so illogical and so far fetched from the truth that I can do nothing but be frightened that people with such views exist out there.

here's a puzzle for you idiots: I as a muslim am a successful professional who has friends from all races, religions-and NEVER has my religion clashed with or limited my interaction with others.

Also: i was NOT brought up in a ghetto.
My father and mother are hard working people who HAVE paid taxes their whole lives and earned an honest living (this goes out to the fool who claims muslims are leeches who don't contribute to the society financially yet abuse the benefits).

I did not come from jupiter, I am a human being like anyone else.
I celebrate christmas and hanukkah with my friends and they celebrate my religious holidays-and you know what?
I like it that way. I personally enjoy the festivities during christmas and the lights-and nothing in my religious beliefs has prohibited me from doing so.

Furthermore as humans we should encourage richness and understanding, not discourage it. Unfortunately there is a small segment within the muslim population who think the same exact way these idoits think-only on the opposite end of teh spectrum.
I am against all forms of ignorance no matter where they come from. And from what I see around me so are my friends who come from all sorts of backgrounds. So the problem is not muslims, christians, french, polish, russian, arab, chinese etc.
The problem is ignorance period...

One racistic post don't justify the racism of whole a group of which racism is a leit motiv.
