Father Christmas inspired by Vikings

Of cause, it is the Nordic mythology which has inspired Father Christmas to fly in a sledge across the sky.
Helge Soerheim from the Archaeological Museum in Stavanger, Norway states to the American news agency AP that the idea to fly around and hand out presents may come from Odin who is believed to have done the same.
Furthermore, the word "Jul" (Christmas) has mythological roots. "Jul" means party and fun, and does not refer to Jesus such as the English word "Christmas".
