Hej Everyone

I have been asked to mention this website to those of you who are struggling to learn Danish and would like an opportunity to meet others in a similar position for a coffee or a beer, plus a general chat and some hopefully some practice.

Here is the link you need -

http://www.meetup.com

It is free to join, looks pretty well run and they hold meetings once a month in numerous cities around the world.

You can search for either "Danish Language" or "Scandinavian Languages". However, there are tons of meetings about all sorts of subjects, so it is a very interesting site !

Hope to see some of you there - I am going to try and get to the London one for sure and occasionally the one in Copenhagen.

Regards

Just a quick update, around the world, for those of you who have not yet checked out this site.

At the time of writing this e-mail, Thurs 21.50, with 5 days to go - the following cities have sufficient or almost sufficient people registered to enable their "International Danish Language Meet Up Day" events to go ahead. There is a 5 person minimum.

So, if you fancy joining us for a beer, coffee, meal, chat or whatever and put a face and a personality to some of the names you see in this and other forums, now is the time to join up.

There is no catch, no hidden agenda and it is completely free. Bring a friend or a partner too - You don't need to be able to speak Danish to attend.

Here are the up to the minute totals. Numerous other cities around the world now have 1 or 2 members so will probably hold a meeting next month. I will keep you informed.

Copenhagen, Denmark (20 members)
London, England (16)
New York City (11)
Washington, DC (7)
Vancouver, BC (6)
Boston, MA (5)
San Diego, CA (5)
Seattle, WA (5)
Barcelona, Espana (4)
Toronto, ON (4)
New Delhi (3)
Sydney, Australia (3)
Santa Clara County, CA (3)
Leeds, England (3)
Mumbai, India (3)
Arhus, Denmark (3)
Philadelphia, PA (3)

The meetings are all next Tuesday - They all take place at 19.00hrs local time.

Regards

Jenny

NB - Please e-mail me or far better, the guys at meet up, if you want any futher info.

Hej Everyone

I heard on the grapevine that the London meetup took place and was quite a success. Unfortunately, I had to work and could not attend. I wondered if the one in Copenhagen actually took place. I note 25 people signed up for it !

Hej Everyone,

Just one of my quick, occasional reminders about the next "International Danish Language Meetups" that are taking place next Tuesday 17th February 2004 at 19.00 in various cities around the world.

If you fancy going along to one of them and chatting in person (either in English or in Danish) about some of the topics raised in this discussion forum, well, now is the time to act.

Go to the website http://www.meetup.com , look for "Danish Language", sign up and indicate that you are interested in coming along.

That really is all you have to do but you need to do it in the course of the next 2 or 3 days, because I have said in previous posts, there has to be 5 people before Meetup permits the event to go ahead.

It's completely free both to join and attend the meetings.

I will let you know which cities held meetings in a couple of weeks time.

By the way, I have no connection with the Meetup organisation. I just think that they do a great job of promoting Denmark and Danish.

Regards

Jenny
