Activities in Hawaii

Keep yourself busy with these activites in Hawaii

Hawaii is a great place for the sporting enthusiast and adventurer to go. A variety of activities are available to anyone having the desire to participate in them. While many of them are available on all the islands, there are also those that are specific to certain islands. It would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with what is available before arriving at your destination of choice.

Besides the regular surfing and snorkeling and other water sports, you might also try a helicopter tour of the picturesque island or hire a mountain bike to cycle from the summit of the inactive Haleakala volcano back to sea level. Whale-watching is also very popular though it is seasonal. On the more cultural side, you can take in a meal at a Hawaiian Luau as you watch the sun set over the turquoise waters.

Oahu is the original island of destination. Because of this, virtually any water sport and activity you can think of is available at some point on this island. Surfing, snorkeling, sailing SCUBA diving or playing golf are just some of the activities which millions of visitors enjoy here every year. Cave diving with sharks is another popular activity. You can take a helicopter tour of the island and see the island's stunning waterfalls and coastlines.

Kauai offers a slightly different aspect of tropical life. Lush, protected vegetation provides the perfect coverage for the natural wildlife. This can be viewed at your leisure from a kayak. Or you might hike up to the waterfall, take a bicycle through the fields or hire a boat or helicopter to take you on a tour of the island. Waimea Canyon is the largest canyon in the Pacific and perhaps one of the most beautiful in the USA. A short boat ride up the Wailua River will take you to the wonderfully romantic Fern Grotto. Kauai is a real life picture postcard.

The Big Island

One of the attractions of the Big Island is the three famous volcanoes - Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Kilauea. Each can be explored at your leisure and if you are lucky enough you might catch Kilauea erupting for a truly breath-taking, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Big Island offers golf, boat cruises and sightseeing. You can also take a Zodia raft or go snorkeling along the Kona Coast. Of course, luaus are available on this island just as they are on all others.

There are really so many activities to be enjoyed in Hawaii that this page scarcely covers them. Book now and make sure that you make the most out of your vacation.
