Travel to Milan in Italy

Explore the luxurious city of Milan, Italy

Known for fashion, art and fancy living, Milan is a popular destination choice for many. It is one of the most stylish cities in Italy and it has a long and rich history. Here you will find architectural masterpieces, some of the most influential fashion houses in the world as well as newer, livelier sections of the city where entertainment is a strong focus.

The majority of the attractions in Milan can be found in or around the city centre. Whether you choose to walk or take a bus tour, you should make sure to include such sites as the Milan Duomo, the Castello Sforzeco, the Teatro alla Scala Opera House and the Santa Maria delle Grazie. The Milan Duomo is the third largest cathedral in the world while the Santa Maria delle Grazie has on display Leonardo da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'. Whether you are an art lover or not, a visit to the Pinacoteca di Brera Gallery and the Villa Reale and Civica Galleria d'Arte Moderna would likely be enjoyed. Failing that, you could try Milan's Civic Archaeological Museum which houses some incredibly old artifacts worth viewing.

Once you've had enough of soaking in this cities incredible history, you might try a detour down Via Montenapoleone - a street known for its fashion connections. Here you will find one of the largest concentrations of international fashion designers. You might even be fortunate enough to see a fashion show showcasing the latest in design. Or if you prefer, you can spend some time relaxing on the shores of one of Milan's many beautiful lakes - perhaps taking in a scrumptious meal and a glass of fine wine as you do so.

In general, you will likely find accommodation to be quite pricy - a testament to the popularity of the city as a destination. It should be noted that Italian accommodation is rated on the star grading system and that the ratings of the accommodation will affect the price. All sorts of accommodation are available to suit different tastes and pockets. It is also wise to stay away during the tourist season - from July to August - as prices skyrocket at this time of year and accommodation is virtually impossible to find. Apart from this fact, Milan is wonderful place to visit should you ever be fortunate enough to do so.
