Travel to Monterrey in Mexico

Discover the fascination of Monterrey Mexico

Also called the richest city in Mexico, Monterrey is the third largest city in the country and it is essentially Mexico's home of business and industry. Though Monterrey is reputed to be the most important production and trade center in the country, it is also an unexpectedly diverse tourist destination.

As you make your way around Monterrey, you will find that it is well planned and easy to navigate. The people are friendly and helpful and generally quite educated. Being a large city, Monterrey offers all the conveniences of city life - fine dining, a great shopping experience, a number of museums and many cultural attractions. Just beyond the city, you will find a wealth of mountains, canyons and deserts - places where you can enjoy activities such as mounting biking, hiking and cave exploration. However you should be warned; Monterrey is not nicknamed the city of mountains for nothing!

Though you might consider Monterrey a less appealing tourist destination that other Mexican cities, there is really no reason to feel this way. There is so much to see and do that you will find a trip to Monterrey just as enjoyable as a trip to any other place. But what might one expect to enjoy here?

Well, you could start by visiting the Macro Plaza where you will find the Tower of Commerce - the highest monument in Mexico. A beam of red light generally circles the city each night, which often results in some spectacular lighting displays. The tower is the perfect place to start a stroll of the beautiful city center. Along the way you will find benches, fountains, museums and even a cathedral. The Paseo Santa Lucia is a great place to visit - a place to relax, be entertained and generally enjoy yourself. Another way to explore the area is to hire a horse drawn carriage or to take an old fashioned trolley tour. Each method is wonderfully rewarding.

Besides the city center, you could try the city theatre, the fountain of life, the local zoo or even the Monterrey Grand Prix. There are so many attractions in this city that you will not run out of things to see and do. Why not give Monterrey a chance? It's a whole new world of holiday entertainment.
