Calming Activities

For those who think of holidays as a chance to relax and unwind, there is walking - both garden walks and nature walks - sightseeing, golf and fishing. Or they could be a little more adventurous and try cycling or hunting. Taking a 4x4 ride through the bush is also a must. All activities are well established on the islands and are easy to organize.

Water Sports

If you are a water-sport lover, you'll find no shortage of activities to keep you entertained. You can go canoeing, surfing, rafting, windsurfing, kayaking sailing or diving - to mention just a few. Because of the geographical structure of the islands, there are numerous rivers and lakes as well as thousands of kilometers of shoreline just waiting to be enjoyed.

Snow Sports

The high, snow-capped peaks of New Zealand are more than just picturesque - they offer the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy the icy snow. Where else will you be able to find a fairly warm climate with mounds of snow and perfect weather? Ski resorts and establishments offer heli-skiing, skiing and snowboarding activities that are popular with locals and tourists alike.

Animal Activities

Perhaps you are one of the millions of people world wide who have a love for animals? Then New Zealand is your paradise. You can see and swim with dolphins, ride horses through lush bush trails or on pristine beaches, go bird-watching, see unusual penguin species in their natural habitat or see whales frolicking in the deep blue ocean. New Zealand is also home to small but delightful Hectors Dolphin which can sometimes be spotted whilst looking for other dolphin species. The unique interaction between these creatures and yourself will be one to remember for the rest of your life.

Adrenaline Rides

New Zealand also caters to a very large adrenaline junkie market. From more subdued but still somewhat risky activities such as caving, orienteering, canyoning and abseiling to the more risky rock climbing and bungee jumping, you'll find your heart pounding all the way. You might also try some of the more unusual activities such as zorbing or fly-by-wire each of which will seldom be found anywhere else in the world. New Zealand is an adventure waiting to happen.
