Explore the high tech city, Hsinchu
Located in northern Taiwan, Hsinchu City is one of Taiwan's Provincial cities. It is situated on the far southern corner of Hsinchu County and is bordered by Miaoli County to the south and the Taiwan Strait to the west. The city is the base of Taiwan's high tech industry and so does not attract many foreign visitors. Still, this should not put you off as Hsinchu has quite a bit to offer.
Hsinchu is appropriately nicknamed "The Windy City" for its somewhat continuously windy climate. The city itself can be divided into three main districts: the North District, the East District and the Siangshan District. One of the most prominent buildings in the city is the Hsinchu Science Park. The Park was established in 1980 and is home to 360 high tech corporations, many of which are household names on a global scale. As the city enjoys such a high concentration of well-studied people, it is also home to four Universities, an institute of science and technology and a number of good schools.
