Relax amongst the beautiful surroundings of Dalaman
On the south-east coast of Turkey in the Mugla Province you will find the delightful little town of Dalaman. For many their introduction to this small town comes in the form of the large international airport at which they arrive when journeying to this beautiful country. While the airport may be small when compared to others in Turkey - it has space for just 14 jet aircraft - it serves as a gateway to the country for millions of tourists each year.
The airport is serviced by a number of airlines including Turkish Airlines, Onur Air, Pegasus Airlines and Freebird Airlines. Connecting flights to Istanbul are offered daily and the standard of service is usually quite high. However the majority of people arriving at the Dalaman airport are enroute to one of the smaller surrounding seaside resorts such as Marmaris, Fethiye, Ölüdeniz and Hisarönü. It is quite understandable that most people prefer to move on to greener pastures - especially when you consider that Dalaman is home to one of Turkey's biggest open prisons. However you need not fear since only the least dangerous prisoners are sent here as part of rehabilitation efforts.
Apart from airports and prisons, you will find that Dalaman enjoys a good agricultural yield. Situated in a fertile plain it enjoys the farming and exporting of a variety of citrus fruits. If you find yourself spending more time than intended in this small town, you might try taking a walk along the lanes between the various citrus farms - a rewarding and enjoyable activity.
