There are quite literally more than a hundred and fifty airports in and around the State of New York. The majority of these New York Airports are open to civilian usage and roughly half of them have paved surfaces. There is even a water plane airport in Schenectady called Wells Seaplane Base. However, most of these airfields are relatively small and are used only for small aircraft. Most visitors to State will arrive at one of the major airports in New York City. The most popular airport in the area is most likely JFK airport in New York City. Description: JFK International Airport is the top international air passenger gateway in the United States of America. It is also the leading gateway for freight goods.

Airport: LaGuardia Airport
Location: Queens, NYC, USA
Surface: Paved
Length: 7000 ft
Description: One of the best options if you are travelling to Midtown manhatten, LaGuardia is somewhat less busy that JFK.

Airport: Newark International Airport (EWR)

Description: Situated about 15 miles west of New York City, Newark is the second largest hub for continental airlines in the state.

Airport: Teterboro Airport
Location: New Jersey, NY, USA
Surface: Paved

Description: Teterboro was first used during World War I. It is considered to be the oldest airfield in the region and is today mainly used by corporate and private operators.

Airport: Westchester Country Airport

Description: This airport was originally built as an Army Air Force base to protect NYC during World War II, today the airport is now mainly used for commercial and civil aviation.

Airport: Islip Long Island Mac Arthur Airport
Location: Long Island, Suffolk County, NY, USA
Surface: Paved
Length: 7006 ft
Description: This airport is owned and operated by the Town of Islip. It offers flights to virtually any city and ground transportation to and from Ronkonkoma train station from where travellers can go to NYC or somewhere else on Long Island.
